English National Ballet’s Coppélia begins a brief UK tour this October and will be at the New Theatre Oxford from October 28–31.
Coppélia is the comic tale of an eccentric toymaker and his mechanical doll.
Dr Coppélius, the toymaker, creates a lifelike Coppélia doll and wants to bring her to life.
ENB’s production is choreographed by Ronald Hynd. Léo Delibes’ score is played by the company’s full orchestra.
In the lead roles of Franz and Swanilda are Yonah Acosta, who was recently promoted to Principal, and Shiori Kase, who was recently promoted to First Soloist, on tour.
Other lead roles in Coppélia include Junor Souza, Lauretta Summerscales, Tamara Rojo, Alejandro Virelles, Erina Takahashi, Fernando Bufalá, Fernanda Oliveira and Zdenek Konvalina.
Following the out of town performances the production will move back to its home in London, the London Coliseum, for the Christmas season.
