Don’t they make a lovely couple? Fresh from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, Danny Mac and West End leading lady Carley Stenson, will head up a sparkling new romcom, Sleepless the Musical, based on the sensational film, Sleepless in Seattle.
The musical, with a book by Michael Burdett, music by Robert Scott and lyrics by Brendan Cull, will appear at three out-of-town theatres before moving into the West End.
Like the much loved movie, Sleepless tells the heart-warming tale of Sam (Mac), who moves to Seattle with his eight year-old son, Jonah, following the death of his wife.
When Jonah phones a radio show, Sam is forced to talk about his broken heart and sleepless nights live on air.
He suddenly finds himself one of the most sought after single men in America and a great news story for feisty journalist Annie (Stenson) on the opposite side of the country.
Danny Mac (Mark ‘Dodger’ Savage in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks) was given his first professional role as Gavroche in Cameron Mackintosh’s touring production of Les Misérables, a role he reprised in London’s West End.
After graduating from drama school, he went straight into Wicked and, most recently, he appeared in Legally Blonde at the Leicester Curve.
Carley Stenson (Hollyoaks’ Steph Cunningham) has West End credits that include: Legally Blonde, Shrek The Musical, Spamalot and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Danny Mac and Carley Stenson are joined by Jennie Dale (42nd Street) and Cory English, who is currently in She Loves Me at the Menier Chocolate Factory. His previous musical theatre credits include Max Bialystock in The Producers (Broadway, West End and UK tour), Igor in Young Frankenstein and Guys & Dolls.
