The Donmar Warehouse and Sheffield Theatres co-production of Peter Gill’s The York Realist is complete with the line- up headed by Ben Batt and Jonathan Bailey.
Full cast also includes, Lucy Black, Brian Fletcher, Lesley Nicol, Katie West and Matthew Wilson.
The York Realist is set in the early 1960s and revolves around George (Batt), a Yorkshire farm labourer involved in a production of the York Mystery Plays, who withdraws from the production.
And John (Bailey), the production’s shy assistant director, who tries to convince him to come back; the love affair between them, and the clash between regional and London culture.
Director and Sheffield Theatres artistic director Robert Hastie directs this new revival of Gill’s modern masterpiece.
