Frantic Assembly’s Othello in major revival

Othello

Frantic Assembly has revived its acclaimed award-winning production of Othello for a national tour starting this October.

The co-production, with Theatre Royal Plymouth, will end with a London run at the Lyric Hammersmith next January.

Frantic Assembly is the country’s leading movement theatre company.

This is an electrifying take on Shakespeare’s most brutal and gripping thriller-tragedy of paranoia, jealousy, sex and murder.

Fusing a taut adaptation of the classic text with its trademark hard-hitting choreography, Frantic Assembly takes a scalpel to 21st century Britain, exposing prejudice, danger and fear.

Othello’s passionate affair with Desdemona leaves him open to jealousy and attack – with devastating consequences.

Here, violence is a way of life and reputation is everything….

This is a mating ground. There’s tension around the pool table, cues in hand.

A world of broken glass and beatings in the car park. It’s dog eat dog. And it’s about to kick off.

Tickets for most venues on sale now. Casting to be announced. This show contains scenes of a violent nature and is suitable for ages 14+

Tour dates: October 4–11, The Lyric, Theatre Royal Plymouth; October 21–25, Oxford Playhouse; October 28-November 1, Leicester Curve; November 4–8, Doncaster Waterdale; November 12–15, Birmingham Rep; November 18-29, The Lowry, Salford; January 13-7 February, Lyric Hammersmith.
