Casting has been completed for the new 2015/6 tour of Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show with The Voice’s Liam Tamne set for the iconic role of transsexual doctor Frank’n’Furter.
Since its first appearance at the Royal Court Theatre in June 1973, RHS has become the world’s favourite cult musical. It has been performed worldwide for over 40 years in more than 30 countries and has been translated into more than 20 languages.
Director Christopher Luscombe created a hot new production to celebrate its 40th anniversary and it’s this critically acclaimed version of the classic show that is back on tour.
The production embarks on a year-long national tour starting at Brighton’s Theatre Royal next month.
Tamne is the last major part to be cast. The singer, who shot to fame in Series two of The Voice, puts on the basque, stockings and pearls for the shows iconic role of Frank’N’Furter.
The actor and singer has previously trod the boards as Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera, Link Larkin in Hairspray and Enjolras in Les Miserables.
He joins X Factor finalist Diana Vickers, Emmerdale actor, Ben Freeman and S Club 7 star, Paul Cattermole.
Kristian Lavercombe returns as Riff Raff following his huge success in over 900 performances of the 40th Anniversary Global Tour of The Rocky Horror Show.
Diana Vickers, who plays Janet, first came to public attention when she was a finalist on The X Factor.
After her second album, she starred in the West End production of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice before joining Ben Miller and Simon Shepherd in the West End production of The Duck House.
Paul Cattermole has just completed the sold out S Club 7 tour after the group reformed at the start of the year while Ben Freeman, who will play Brad, is best known for playing Scott Windsor in Emmerdale.
He has starred on stage in the West End productions of Legally Blonde, Dreamcoats and Petticoats and Wicked and the touring production of Happy Days where he played The Fonz.
The musical features all of its famous classics including Science Fiction/Double Feature, Dammit Janet and the timeless floor-filler, The Time-Warp.
RHS tells the story of Brad and his fiancée Janet, two squeaky clean college kids who meet Dr Frank’n’Furter by chance when their car breaks down outside his house.
It is an adventure they’ll never forget, with fun, frolics, frocks, and frivolity which famously combines science-fiction, horror, comedy and music, and encourages audience participation meaning, of course, getting dressed in your most outrageous fancy dress.
