Acclaimed Kenny Morgan returns to Arcola Theatre
|Arcola Theatre’s smash-hit Kenny Morgan returns to the theatre later this month with the original cast.
This critically-acclaimed new play (read Stage Review’s four star verdict bit.ly/245N6yz) about the troubled relationship between writer Terence Rattigan and his young lover, is the latest drama by Mike Poulton the Tony-nominated writer of Fortune’s Fool, Wolf Hall, and Bring up The Bodies.
Kenny Morgan is set in 1940s London where Terence Rattigan is one of the best-known playwrights in town. But his intimate relationship with the actor Kenneth Morgan is a closely-guarded secret.
Emotions reach fever pitch when Kenny falls into the arms of a younger man. Behind the closed doors of a flat in Camden Town, the unspeakable is spoken – and the consequences are tragic.
A gripping tale of destructive passions, Kenny Morgan exposes the limits to which people will go for love, and the extraordinary real-life events behind Rattigan’s most famous play, The Deep Blue Sea.
Directed by Lucy Bailey (Fortune’s Fool, Old Vic; Titus Andronicus, Shakespeare’s Globe) the complete original cast – Paul Keating as Morgan and Simon Dutton as Rattigan with George Irving, Matthew Bulgo, Lowenna Melrose, Pierro Niel-Mee and Marlene Sidaway.
Kenny Morgan, produced by Arcola Theatre, runs from September 20 – October 15.
