A portrait of corruption. Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray is seducing audiences on UK tour

Tilted Wig’s new production of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray is seducing audiences wherever it goes on a new UK tour starring TV bad boy Jonathan Wrather.

This timeless story tells of a cultured, wealthy, and beautiful young man’s downfall through moral corruption and seduction.

Dorian, fearing that his good looks would fade as he grows old, wishes that a portrait painted of him could bear the burden of the ageing process, leaving him forever young.

But at what cost…?

Featuring Wilde’s famous wit and a stellar cast, The Picture of Dorian Gray is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat right up until the final scenes.

Katherine Senior of Tilted Wig Productions said: “We hope audiences will enjoy our classic re -telling of this famous novel as it still has such resonance with our modern day lives and with its utter timelessness should feel bang up to date.

“We are having a great tour at some fantastic venues. We are thrilled to welcome our guest star, Jonathan Wrather, to bring this timeless thriller to the regions”.

Wrather, is best known to audiences for playing the controversial Pierce Harris in ITV’s Emmerdale plus roles in Coronation Street, Silent Witness and Casualty. He plays the decadent dandy, Lord Henry Wotton.

RSC actor Gavin Fowler is in the titular role of Dorian Gray. He is joined by Daniel Goode, Kate Dobson, Adele James, Ellen Campbell, Phoebe Pryce and Samuel Townsend.

The play, based on the classic novel, is adapted and directed by Séan Aydon.
