Three nights of enthralling dance comes to Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre with the arrival tonight of the Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet.
Under the direction of Marina Medvetskaya, Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet has won plaudits across Russia, Scandinavia and the United States. The company will be performing The Nutcracker and Giselle.
Combining classical training and technique with the best-loved Russian ballets, the company’s performances have an air of magic, complemented by a full orchestra and outstanding male soloists who will take your breath away.
Touring a traditional repertoire which features principal dancer Natalia Romanova – one of the pupils of the late legendary ballerina Natalya Dudinskaya – the ballets will delight dance fans.
The Nutcracker is a delightfully festive tale, and the perfect introduction to ballet, as Clara is whisked away on a fairytale adventure by her Nutcracker prince.
And one of the few 19th century Romantic ballets to survive intact, Giselle tells of a village girl whose everlasting love saves her beloved from a wretched dance to the death.
Artistic Director Marina Medvetskaya said: “It has been a dream of mine to bring this company to audiences in the UK.
“I believe UK dance fans will embrace the beauty, power and dexterity of our male and female dancers in these iconic ballets.”
Producer Patricia Murray-Bett of PMB Presentations, said: “We introduced audiences to the hugely successful Moscow City Ballet and are delighted now to present Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet, an exciting and talented company”.
Giselle will be performed tonight and The Nutcracker on Tuesday and Wednesday.
