The Weir ends its smash hit run at The Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End on April 19, it has been announced.
Hailed as magnificent, Josie Rourke’s production of Conor McPherson’s masterpiece sold out at the Donmar in last spring.
Transferring to Wyndham’s it has been a massive hit; the production recouped in just six weeks, garnering rave reviews and audience acclaim.
It took with it the original cast of some of Ireland’s finest actors, Risteárd Cooper, Brian Cox, Dervla Kirwan, Peter McDonald and Ardal O’Hanlon.
First premiering in 1999, The Weir won the Evening Standard, Critics’ Circle and Olivier Award for Best New Play, establishing Conor McPherson as one of the greatest playwrights of our age.
Josie Rourke’s production is the first major British revival of this modern classic.
