Madcap farce makes a superhero out of Nhamo

Nhamo (original cast)

This is a first for Watford Palace Theatre – a madcap Zimbabwean comedy farce.

The Epic Adventure of Nhamo the Manyika Warrior and his sexy wife Chipo is being staged at the venue from May 29-31.

Produced by WPT in association with Tiata Fahodzi, one of the leading British-African theatre companies, the comedy tells the story of how an ordinary person, against all the odds, can achieve extraordinary things.

Nhamo, a dashing young goatherd, stumbles upon a mysterious Narrator who has just hours to complete his masterpiece – the ultimate African TV drama.

All that’s missing is a hero and Nhamo fits the bill, but only if he can defeat his arch enemy, woo the girl of his dreams and audiences the world over, and learn his lines…all by midnight.

It’s already gained great national reviews with one critic claiming that writer Denton Chikura’s début play “leaves no cliché un-stoned in his witty satire of African stereotypes from Western film and theatre. A delight from start to finish.”

Running Time: 85 minutes (including interval)
