The Mill at Sonning is taking a gamble on the high-rolling classic musical Guys & Dolls this Christmas.
Guys & Dolls, a fable of Broadway that’s based on a story and characters from Damon Runyon, follows the timeless New York tale of gamblers, crooks, nightclub singers and missionaries.
For unlikely heroes, Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit, every day is an opportunity to hustle, every dispute can be settled with a roll of the dice, and every dime is theirs for the taking.
They live by their wits and the skin of their teeth. Lady Luck is on their side – until one night they both take a chance on love…
Sky (Richard Carson,) tries to get the pious and beautiful mission-doll Sarah Brown (Victoria Serra) to go on a date with him to the disreputable Havana.
But will he be lucky on the biggest gamble of his life?
Guys & Dolls follows on from the award-winning The Mill at Sonning’s hugely successful production of My Fair Lady.
With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows the show features some of the greatest tunes ever written, including Luck be a Lady, Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat, I’ve Never Been in Love Before and Take Back Your Mink.
Directed and choreographed by Joseph Pitcher, Guys & Dolls stars Stephane Anelli as Nathan Detroit.
He is joined by Michelle Andrews, Felipe Bejarano, Rebecca Bernice-Amissah, Katie Bradley, Alex Christian, Daniel Fletcher, Natalie Hope, Ben Irish, Oliver Jacobson, Jeremy Rose and Johnathan Tweedie.
Tickets to the show include a two-course meal before the performance in the theatre’s newly re-designed restaurant.
For performances before December 23, a Christmas menu will be served.
Guys & Dolls runs at The Mill at Sonning Theatre from tonight until February 23.
