Theatre6 takes Jane Austen’s Persuasion on UK Tour

Stephanie Dale’s thrilling adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion is set to open its UK tour at London’s Playground Theatre this month.

This touching, comedic drama, produced by Theatre6 (West End smash hit The Scottsboro Boys and critically acclaimed tour of Moira Buffini’s Gabriel), is directed by award-winning Kate McGregor and features a company of actor-musicians.

Persuasion was Jane Austen’s final novel, and Theatre6’s production is a world premiere featuring original music by Maria Haïk Escudero to be played live.

It is the story of Anne Elliott, a shy woman from the south coast of England who was young and in love.

Enamoured by the dashing but poor naval officer, Captain Wentworth, her ambitious family tore them apart.

Eight years later Wentworth returns. Will a chance encounter lead Anne towards the true love she has yearned for or a life forever alone?

Ceri-Lyn Cissone will portray Persuasion’s heroine and protagonist, Anne. She is joined by Matthew Atkins, Siobhán Gerrard, Indigo Griffiths, Jason Ryall and Lucinda Turner.
