Boxman Ruaraidh Murray to break out for Edinburgh Fringe

Boxman, a darkly comic one-man show written and performed by Edinburgh-born actor Ruaraidh Murray will début at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Boxman’s wife has left him. He’s had a breakdown. Now he lives in a cardboard box in his front room.

In pursuit of new love Boxman gets a job in ASDA on the wines and spirits aisle.

Problem: Boxman is a former alcoholic. Problem 2: Does Boxman love Mandy. Or is he just a stalker?

Will love allow Boxman to overcome his addictions? Will he be able to fight off the bullying Jeff from the meat counter and win Mandy?

And finally, will he ever be able to break out his cardboard box? If anyone can, Boxman can…can’t he?

Ruaraidh was a member of the Traverse Theatre and Royal Court Theatre young writers groups and his theatre acting credits include Trainspotting, High Jumpers, Disintegration and We’re All Doing Time.

In 2013, The Gilded Balloon co-produced a Scottish tour of Murray’s Big Sean, Mikey and Me, and Ruaraidh is currently adapting the stage script of the show both for radio and film, with director Paul Robinson.

Boxman will play a preview performance at Etcetera Theatre, Camden High Street, London, July 24 –26.

The show runs at Gilded Balloon Teviot – The Turret, 13 Bristo Square, July 30-August 26.
