On the hottest day of the year we turn our attentions to Xmas panto. EastEnders John Partridge is the latest celebrity to sign up for Christmas.
He leads the cast of Northampton’s spectacular production of Cinderella at the Royal & Derngate.
Actor, dancer, singer and television presenter Partridge will be joined by Sid Sloane from CBeebies, plus impressionist Danny Posthill and vocalist Alison Jiear, both fresh from their appearances on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.
John made his professional debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats, in the West End, on tour and in the official film production of the show.
He subsequently appeared in Taboo, Miss Saigon and Starlight Express, and most recently played the lead role of Don in the critically-acclaimed musical A Chorus Line at the London Palladium.
But he is best-known for his role as Christian Clarke in EastEnders. The role won John legions of fans as did his appearance on other television projects, such as his role as judge on Over the Rainbow in search of a leading lady for The Wizard of Oz in the West End, and most recently Tumble, a gymnastics reality show on BBC One.
Having lit up television screens and children’s faces across the country for 11 years on CBeebies, presenter and panto regular, Sid Sloane, will be playing Dandini.
Impressionist Danny Posthill plays Buttons and Alison Jiear is the Fairy Godmother.
John Partridge said: “I absolutely love pantomime and I can’t wait to get started in rehearsals.
“The cast we’ve assembled are brilliant and it’s going to be a show that Northampton won’t want to miss.”
Cinderella runs from December 11-January 3.
