I can’t believe that I’m writing about Christmas panto in March but here goes…
Wycombe Swan has announced that TV soap-star, actor and comedian Shane Richie will star in its 2014 pantomime, Dick Whittington.
Shane’s casting as devilishly handsome Dick follows his hugely-successful season as Buttons in Cinderella at the Bucks theatre last Christmas.
The award-winning star is a real crowd-pleaser and tickets are likely to go fast for his triumphant return.
Alongside a formidable TV career Shane has enjoyed high-profile stage credits including as Danny Zuko in the West End production of Grease, which broke all box office records, and in Boogie Nights which he co-wrote and co-produced in the West End and on national tour.
Shane has recently fronted the brand-new BBC One Saturday evening game show Reflex.
Dick Whittington is produced by Qdos Entertainment.
Michael Harrison, managing director of Qdos Entertainment’s pantomime division said: “Shane is an outstanding comedy actor and we’re absolutely delighted that he’s agreed to return to Wycombe Swan this Christmas.”
Simon Stallworthy, theatre director at Wycombe Swan added: “Audiences in Wycombe loved Shane’s unique and very funny performance as Buttons last year, and he clearly loved being here.
“He has a real warmth as a performer and establishes a great relationship with the audience.
“He’s one of the top pantomime performers in the country and we are thrilled to be welcoming him back to the Swan this year.
“It will be a real treat and a chance for those that couldn’t get tickets to see an actor and comedian at the top of his game in action.”
Dick Whittington runs from Saturday 13 December 2014 to Sunday 4 January 2015.
