Ahoy me hearties! It’s Easter panto at The Grove

Edele Lynch and Sid Sloane (The Pirates of Treasure Island)

Dunstable’s Grove Theatre has hit on a bit of a winning formula by giving families a pantomime at Easter.

This year it’s swash-buckling fun with The Pirates of Treasure Island starring Edele Lynchfrom B*Witched and Celebrity Big Brother & CBeebies’ Sid Sloane.

This high-seas adventure is packed with treasure maps, bearded one-legged pirates, tropical islands, parrots, mutiny and the dreaded black spot.

The new stage version of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic yarn blends the best of storytelling, pantomime and musical theatre to create a fantastic family show.

In The Pirates Of Treasure Island, the hero, Captain Smollett, must battle an onslaught of evil pirates, lead by the wicked Captain Grace O’Malley (a character based on a real life Irish pirate from the 1500s), and beat off a mutiny lead by the ship’s cook, Long John Silver.

Edele Lynch (Grace) started B*Witched with her twin sister in 1997. The band had hits in the UK, Europe and North America, including the UK number ones, C’est la Vie, Rollercoaster, I Belong To You and Blame It On The Weatherman.

In 2012, B*Witched reunited for ITV’s The Big Reunion and then embarked on an area tour. A year later Edele won Celebrity Apprentice Ireland and in 2014, she made it all the way to the last day of Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother.

Sid Sloane (Captain Smollett) was one of the original presenters who launched CBeebies and, since 2002, has become one of the country’s best loved children’s presenters.

Also joining the cast are Ant Payne (as Silly Billy Bones), Robert Pearce (as Mrs Smollett), Jasette Amos (as the Mermaid), Peter Brad Leigh (as Long John Silver) and Lucy Reed (as Jemima Hawkins).

The Pirates Of Treasure Island runs from April 3-5.
