The St. James Studio, Victoria, is staging Noël Coward’s Christmas Spirits which will be the perfect taster to get everyone in the mood for the season.
Christmas Spirits will take audiences on a bittersweet festive journey, told through song, poetry and prose.
The scene is London, December 1940: the bombs rain down in the Blitz, and Britain faces up to Christmas under fire.
In his Mayfair flat, Noël Coward uses his latest creation, Madam Arcati, the visionary medium, to summon up voices that tell of the enduring spirit of Christmas through the ages.
The show is written and directed by Nick Hutchison, with musical direction by Stefan Bednarczyk (soon to appear in the studio with Anne Reid for their cabaret Just in Time) and designed by Annie Gosney.
The cast is Charlotte Wakefield, Stefan Bednarczyk and Issy Van Randwyck.
Noël Coward’s Christmas Spirits runs from December 8-23.
