Watford is set to be transformed into a street stage for its fourth annual open air performance festival.
Get ready for a town transformed by a magical ship with a mysterious crew, giant bubbles hanging from street corners, a rolling house and the world’s smallest travelling music hall.
This year’s festival promises to be bigger and more spectacular than ever before, with new productions performing for the first time at Imagine Watford.
Between June 19-29 Watford town centre will be hosting over 100 free performances from some of Europe’s most innovative and acclaimed performance artists.
This year, Imagine Watford will also include The Big Launch, featuring a series of specially commissioned performances to open Watford’s newly refurbished town centre.
Delivered by Watford Borough Council, Watford’s Big Events celebrate the town’s creativity and diversity and will run throughout the rest of 2014 and into next year.
The festival has everything from dance to incredible feats, story-telling to spectacle.
Audiences will experience a man spurting water, a hunt for a fearsome beast, a journey with a paramedic, a giant ‘oss and ox, spinning houses, audience participation, romance and adventure.
They’ll hear honky-tonk piano, infectious drumming and sweet music.
Festival highlights include four new shows that are co-commissions between Lyric Hammersmith, Greenwich + Docklands International Festival, Watford Place Theatre and Latitude.
Expect to see the innovative Flipping the Bird’s The Itinerant Music Hall; Light the Fuse’s Full Stop; Bucket Club’s The Beasts; and Page One Theatre’s Made Up Stories from My Unmade Bed.
There’s also the amazing Le Voyage des Aquareves, and the début of The ‘Oss and the Ox which brings together the traditions of England and Brazil with lively audience interaction.
Most of the performances will be held on The Parade, Watford. All events are free and most events do not require booking.
